The Sciatic Nerve is the largest nerve in the human body.  It originates from the spinal cord in the area of the lumbar spine (low back) and travels down the leg to the tip of the toes.

Sciatica is irritation to the sciatic nerve that causes extreme pain that radiates into the buttock and down the leg.  By restoring normal function to the vertebrae of the low back, chiropractors are able to correct one of the most common causes of nerve irritation.  Once corrected, the nerve is able to heal and the sciatica goes away.
